JACQUI PAINTER ART
ARTIST STATEMENT
'I rarely have a plan of what I’m about to paint. I begin and intuitively let the painting emerge in its own way.
My paintings are usually colourful, organic, and elemental. I have a lot of energy and enjoy the physicality and vigour of making marks and exploring expressions of energy and vibrancy.

Some of my paintings are fluid, expressive and natural, whilst others have a distinctive weathered appearance and a more urban, coastal feel. I have always been drawn to worn and distressed surfaces. I love the ugly beauty of urban coastal spaces and seaside towns.

Ultimately, painting is predominantly about cultivating the connection I have with myself and expressions of my subconscious and internal landscape.'
